From what I have been reading about EA Games Kingdom Reborn, it is a very large and extensive change to UO. I have read that the old, current client will work on the first phase of KR. But there is another planned release shortly after that the current client will not work on.
Reading the RunUO forums, it appears that they have no plans of going forward with trying to upgrade RunUO to match the 2 upcoming releases from EA Games. RunUO says that EAGames is trying to revitalize a 10 year old game. RunUO says they will continue to work towards a 100% release up to the time that EA Games jumps to KR.
With all I have seen of the new releases and the talk of what's coming, I like RunUO's stand on this.
I personally like our world as it is. I use the 2d client. I tried the 3d but did not like it. The new KR looks to me like 3d on steroids. It looks to me to be a super Lag Monster. It was not even written by EA Games. I thought I read they contracted it out. That don't sound good to me.
Presently, I plan to keep Paradise Found based on the current client. Paradise Found will continue to change. It will continue to be fun. When the last client patch from EA comes down before the new release, personally, I will make a good backup of the client to assure I can play on Paradise Found for a long time to come. The game may be 10 years old but I have only been playing for 3 years. I have by no means had enough yet. I learn something new each day. Writing script is just now starting to get easy after 3 years.
It will not be legal for anyone to send or give a copy of the current client to other players. That is why I will make sure I have a good backup of the latest working client.
I love this game and I love our shard and all the great players we have that make it so good. We will continue on. If any of us get the urge of playing KR, I am sure they will have a free trial period. But I will be back here for sure.
I have no idea what the time frame for the new EA Games releases nor when the last good patch for our game will be. This is just for a heads up so we can be prepared.
I will be here for years to come. I hope you all are here too to keep me company.

The latest info on the client from the Stratics FoF post yesterday states that the next planned patch is ok, but the one following this one will eliminate the 3d client and render it unusable. So for those that do use the 3d client, as of the next patch, be sure to back-up your client and files so that should anything happen, you can still play and use the 3d client.
There is no current news on the 2d client, they talk alot about the "Legacy Client" and it being supported for quite some time after the release of Kingdom Reborn. I'm guessing this means that they will continue to support the older client on their servers until such a time they deem enough of the player-base is using the KR Client that they can remove the "legacy client" and not lose alot of their revenue in the process. Gotta remember, where EA is concered, it's all about the Benjamin's.
Haazen, thank you for all your hard work and dedication to PF, you've created a wonderful world for us all to play on and we look forward to being able to do more of the same for many more years to come. Please keep us informed on any info that you come across on this, and I will try to do the same. I guess in this case it would be better to have something double-posted than not posted, or posted and missed.
So just to recap, so far as the 3d client goes, the next patch [currently] is going to be the last patch before they stop support of the 3d client. Be sure to either do a complete backup either now or after the next patch [or both]. More info to come as it is released.

Ok, this is the latest official news from OSI..... the patch that will disable use of the 3d client is slated to be released on Monday. I STRONGLY URGE all players that use [or think they ever might want to use] the 3d client to make a complete copy of your UO directory and save it someplace safe [on a cd if possible].
Once Kingdom Reborn is released, the Mondain's Legacy client download will be removed and the only client that will be available for download will be the KR client.
I know that I personally am going to backup my files tonight so that should I ever decide to run the 3d client I will have that option, and I hope that those of you who use it will do the same. I know that I've hit the patch icon several times on accident, and doing so this time would cause 3d to no longer function on your pc [or at least this is the impression that OSI is giving from their posts].
