As you may or may not know, upgrade of the server has been in work for many weeks now. We have a new high-end, blazing fast server. And the staff and I have spent the past several weeks moving all our custom scripts over to work on RunUO version 2. We have been testing these changes and the new software for two weeks and testing the new server for a week. We have found and fixed a few major crash bugs and several minor bugs. We are about ready to make the big jump.
Our planned date is Wed. 19 Jul. Time of day is not really known. And of course, this is subject to change upon discovery of new major bugs.
Of concern to most players is, "What will I lose?". I am happy to say, Very Little. All accounts will be safe. All pets are safe. Houses are safe. And all your gold. That all the big stuff. hehe
Actually it is easier to list all that will go away. Here is the list:
All Spellbooks - Spellbooks will be replaced when you login to the new server the first time. Spellbooks on vendors and special spellbooks from quests will NOT be replaced. These can be earned or remade again.
All Decorative weapons and shields - These are craftable and can be remade.
Teabasket
Wheat
Keyring
That is the list. I feel this is acceptable. Very many shards are doing total wipes for this upgrade.
There is a possibility of your hair or beard getting lost too. We will deal with baldness as needed. We have lots of Rogain in stock.
The Auction system will be shut down and we will try to load it on the new server later. The present Auction system will not port over.
Here is the chain of events:
Sometime on Wednesday when we are ready, I will announce that we are ready. I will take a total system save. And the server will be shut down. Staff will do the necessary things to get it ready for logon. I have tested this and it took a little over an hour. I have tested this process twice. I don't expect any problems. So we should be back in business in about an hour.
Now for a few things that I think need to be said.
Last time we did an upgrade, there were a few unsavory players that tried to use the upgrade as an excuse to get something for nothing. Every item that is lost in this process displays on my screen. So saying your evo or LegsOfTheUndead got lost, is just not true. Please don't try this.
We all know that there will be bugs discovered for many weeks. Please post this things in the forum under Thing That Need Fixing. We will address them as soon as possible.
Exploits: If you find something different and it seems too good to be true, like a mongbat that drops 15k gold, you know that is a bugs. Our rules say you need to report these type of things. Please don't exploit anything. Bring it to staff attention. I would hate to terminate your account because you did not report something that is too good to be true. "I did not know" is not an excuse.
With your help, this will be a good process and in a very short time we will again have the best shard there is. Even other shards upgrading, we still have many things they do not.

I wonder what will happen to Questbooks ?
Will they disappear too?
Because i have almost fullfilled one (just those Platinum Granite missing ^^).
Will Items in the Runic, Tool, and other special Chests be safe ?

Yes, all runic tools, all your materials, all things in any type of special chest are safe.

The Auction system was shut down 4 am Monday morning in preporation for the upgrade on Wednesday. I tested the shutdown of the system 2 times on the test server and all items were returned to the sellers and gold was returned to the highest bider. We will try and reload the auction system on the new server at a later date.
