Sounds like it was the spirit of someone who protected you Llyander, probably someone who knew you, or even you knew. I'd say what the girlfriend saw was anger for what you were doing... and was trying to drive her away. I'd love to live in a house like that again though Mine is just annoying. I love the sound of someone walking past my bed at night when noone is out of bed. It wakes me up.

I have had a few things happen in my past. I did not really think much of if due to pranksters in my family. However the very first time I had an out of the ordinary experience was at the age of Eight. I Was at my Grandmothers house sitting watching T.V., Gilligans Island if I remember right, when all of the sudden a large picture hanging over the tv very very slowly tilted away from the wall... don't know if that makes any sense but it was as if the bottom of the picture was still attached while the top was being pulled away. When I stood up to get a closer look, it slowly started to move back into place. I started to reach for it... but NOOO the dang thing had to scared the crap out of me by dropping to the floor LOL. I normally pass things off like this as something that has a logical explanation however this i still can not explain as to how it would happen.

Well I am also kind of intrigue about the unknown and things that can not be under right mind explained. But here goes what I define as unexplained. When I was a kid say around 10 years old I remember at my grandma's house I hear like a huge knock on the door. Not the gentle type but more like cops knocking to raid your house type. So as a nice little kid I went to open the door to my surprised that when I opened up that door it was just plained pitch black of the night. I thought it was my parent coming back home but it was completely empty. Nobody nothing standing there. It took me a good 2 minutes to come to my senses and slam the door shut. Funny thing is that my grandma was on the same room as me and she didn't hear anything... No couldn't be prankster cause that door is on the 2nd floor... The only way to convince myself was it was the wind on a very hot summer night. Ladies and gentlemen I leave this for you to elaborate. Until now that house gives me the creeps even though I have moved out for a very long time.

Well, the only really weird (and somewhat spooky) thing I've ever had happen to me was back in March 2006. I was living in an apartment around the corner from my elderly mother's home. In February, my Mom had been hospitalized (several problems) and was still in the hospital. Because of my Mom's pets, I had been sleeping overnights at my Mom's house while she was in the hospital. One of the longtime possessions of my Mothers, which she LOVED, was an old-style full sized Grandfathers clock, which chimed a tune in bells every half-hour. One of those things you get so used to you never notice. This clock had been a part of our family for over 30 years. One night, about 12:45 am (after midnight), I got a call from the hospital that my Mom was in trouble, and they were giving her CPR, and I should come in right away. I immediately grabbed my dog to take her back to my apartment on the way to the hospital (she didn't get along with my Mom's cats, so I couldn't leave her at Mom's house). When I entered my apartment, I DISTINCTLY heard the bell chime tune that the Grandfather clock used to signal the half-hour. Very distinctly and clearly heard - but in my Apartment - not Mom's house? I stopped, looked around, shook my head confusedly, looked at my apartment clock (time was 1:04 a.m.), then rushed on to the hospital. I got there - only to be told that sadly, my Mom had passed on with a heart attack and resuscitation attempts had failed . Time of death on the death certificate : 1:04 a.m.I still have the clock, but I won't turn the chiming feature back on - hearing those bells creeps me out terribly.
