I have been a tamer since the beginning of UO back in the old days. I have played with the tameing here on PF and it seems a little weak once you leave fell. I have also talked with other players who feel the same way kinda like tameing was forgotten. There is a system on the runuo forums that allows for pet breeding and leveling. I think that system would fit in well with PF and i dont feel that it would overpower pets in areas like trammel or purgatory. The system also adds tameing BOD's. Ive worked with the system before and it is a easy install. It has directions on adding certain pets to a list to not be allowed in that leveling system which is very easy todo. IE add all the evo pets and mercs to the list to not be allowed in the leveling breeding system. The system makes all pets in game sort of like the evo system. Pets have to be trained and leveled up to a certain level before they can breed and you get a babey. At higher levels and stats the breeding gets harder and is not always successfull. The system is has been very stable and worth while and would give those that are diehard tamers an added edge. Just my 2 cents worth from the eyes of an oldschool tamer:P

Before I get into it and forget, you probably want to post this at the new forums. paradisefounduo.com/forum.phpI do agree with you on the broad stroke; taming is pretty lackluster here considering the skill point investment it takes. I entirely blame the 0-skill Evos and 100+ skill Mirrors; there's just no competing in a majority of cases. I've played with this pet leveling and breeding system before and I'm really on the fence about whether or not it would be a good thing for PF. I think it could be a very interesting expansion to taming, but at the same time I don't think it's anywhere near the fix taming needs to compete with Mirrors and Evos. Most of the benefit from the leveling and breeding system would apply to lower end pets, and would bring them up to the level of some of the high end pets. This is great for GM tamers, but does nothing to balance the playing field; a 1000 HP, 1000 str Unicorn would be pretty sweet, but it still doesn't match a Charger and thus doesn't fix the overall problem. I'm not sure I'm on board with the BOD side of the system, though. It would either be extremely difficult to fill an LBoD thanks to the lower population or entirely too easy thanks to BOD stones. One way just frustrates people and the other makes Taming and Lore PSs as throwaway as Tailoring, Mining, and Blacksmithing PSs. Of course, it's also possible that UOPF staff could apply their magic and make the system far better than what I've seen done elsewhere. If that were the case, then I'd be all for it.

The forum has moved to: paradisefounduo.com/ Please post all new posts on the new forum. This has been discussed repeatedly during the 6 years I've been here. Paradise's pets (tamable chargers, cu sidhe, reptalon, chimera, etc.) are overpowered as it is. Given the fact that the breeding system is highly exploitable with far too many ways to get around the scripted blocks in place, it wouldn't be wise to allow breeding if players can breed a 10th generation, level 99 chicken that's stronger and has more HP than a charger of the fallen. I truly would not want to see a high-level, multi-gen Charger of the Fallen that could be as nasty as Beezly or DDD.
