I called our ISP this morning and they ran some checks in the line from their office. There is excessive noise on the line.
The very first appointment to come out and check the line is tomorrow, Sat, afternoon.
After they show up, then they can determine where the problem lies. That does not mean the problem will be fixed right then. We can hope that it does get fixed tomorrow afternoon.
If the problem turns out to be the lines into the house, they should be able to fix that right away. If the problem is the line to the street, that may take much longer. If the problem turns out to be the Modem, I will have to run to Best Buy and get a new one. I should be able to do that after the line folks leave.
I hope they can fix the noise problem easily and that we will be back to stable by tomorrow evening. Keep all your fingers crossed.
I am sorry for these problems and I feel bad that it causes so many people problems.

After a visit from the Grand line fixers, it boils down to this. There is noise on the line that builds and falls. They could see this from diagnostics run from other points on the network. This is not a local problem meaning not in my house. It is a main trunk noise problem. So the word is, they will get to it as soon as possible. Which really means, depending on my priority in the scheme of things or how many folks on this node are affected, it could be early next week or could be much longer. The problem is somewhere between the pole outside and the Fiber Optic breakout box.
The problem is, they just have no idea how important this line is to so many people. These folks at the fix it place do not know what real life is about. They do not play on Paradise Found. They are deprived in their existance. I feel sorry for them all.
All we can do it hope for the best.

Ouch sorry to hear that. It's a pain when your paying for a service and are not getting what you're payin for. I know the feeling had many of problems like that with previous ISP's.
Have Qwest now and runs like a champ, except... lol I have a bad split in the phone line inside the house. Just been waiting for it to warm up because I am going to do some work on the box outside too. Update the screws n such, better to do it all than partial lol. Not on dial up, 5mb DSL. Only getting about 4.4mb because of the bad split. Actual coming to the house is 5.2mb. They just upgraded the lines (for free) to 7mb for the same price. Not available by me yet ofcourse lol. Also adding fiber lines straight to the homes soon. Qwest was saying top speed then will be around 25mb, possibly more! Woot! lol
Did it get fixed btw?

I've been trying madly to get back on, but it keeps saying to check back again in a few moments. It's now 12.29am here and way past my bedtime. I think I'll check back again in the morning and hopefully it'll be back up and running then. No worries!
